Another great year has seen our teams travel and compete in the game we love; 2024 took us to Switzerland where both our Men’s team and newly formed United Nations’ women’s team competed over an eight day World Championship.
Our Men’s team had fifteen regulars dressed as a few players sustained injuries prior to the tournament and could not attend. These men showed great courage in competition, falling short in their first game 3-2 to the 2022 World Champion Bermuda. Over the next few days, they demonstrated good resilience with positive attitude. The results were not formidable however the brotherhood continued our progress into building for the future.
The United Nations women’s team found themselves facing great challenges in competition versus highly ranked nations such as Canada, the US and others. They did show they belong on the surface, and earned a hard fought victory versus host nation Switzerland. Tears of joy took over for both players, family members in attendance and coaches. It was a highlight moment and a new journey for new friendships, alliances and future competition, United team.
Honored was team founder, general manager and men’s coach Gabi Missakian for his commitment and dedication to the program since 2012. The ISBHF recognized his work by inducting him into the Hall of Fame.
